St Barth Properties November Party

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

The plans for our St Barth Properties November Party are in the works. Please join us November 05, 06, and 07, 2010 for this fun weekend.

If you are a confirmed client, please email so that we may add you to our guest list. If you have yet to book your villa or hotel, please email and one of our Villa and Hotel Specialists will contact you.

It is not too late to reserve your villa! Today I am suggesting two nice options.

For just the two of you:

Villa Le Perchoir in Flamands

Dream About: Relaxing in your Jacuzzi, with a dramatic sweeping view of Flamands Beach.

It’s in the Details: A sweet, romantic villa with a lovely living room and a pretty king bedroom.

SBP Loves: The verandah, with its dining table, lounge chairs, swaying hammocks – and that Jacuzzi

Want to celebrate with friends? Here is a nice choice that is perfect for two couples

Villa Bet Yam in Toiny

Dream About: Entertaining – just yourselves or others – on the dramatically lit pool deck with its Buddha and fountain.

It’s in the Details: Serene bedrooms have en suite baths with outside showers, and a loft mezzanine is great for reading, napping or just taking in the view. Jog from Toiny to Grand Fond.

SBP Loves: The contemporary décor with striking accent pieces and the “Chinese” bedroom.

Villa Cygne

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

One of the nice things that our villa owners do for us is to make some nice changes once in a while. One of our favorite villas is Villa Cygne (Swan). Casually elegant and boasting one of the most magnificent views over the harbor, the villa entices many of our clients to go back year after year.

A few years ago, the owner enlarged the pool and deck. He put in a sunken bar so that guests could remain poolside when it is time for sunset cocktails. And what a sunset, indeed! As the sun sinks into the horizon, twilight brings beautiful orange and red hues to the sky and eventually galaxies of stars begin twinkling above distant St Maarten. The lights of Gustavia and the mega yachts that are docked below become visible indicating that another beautiful evening in St Barth has begun to unfold.

Sometimes it is so difficult to tear oneself away and head out to dine at one of the island’s fabulous restaurants, that we often arrange for a private chef to come in. The chef adores the prep and the cooking in Villa Cygne’s kitchen because it is so wonderfully equipped. As a bonus, he can also enjoy the view while he is at it.

Last summer the owner renovated the second king bedroom and this summer he has just completed the renovation of the third king bedroom. These two bedrooms are located in their own pavilions to the right of the swimming pool. The other bedroom is located on the right side of the main level not far from the outdoor dining area, kitchen and living room.

The Lurin location is perfect for those who want to be 3 minutes from the harbor and/or 5 minutes from Gouverneur Beach. Villa Cygne is the ideal choice for one, two or three couples. Although it is already booked for the Christmas holidays, it is available for Thanksgiving and there are some open weeks this fall, in January and in late March. (It’s a perfect place to watch the St Barth Bucket!)

Annual November Party, Anyone?

Friday, September 17th, 2010

One year ago we were arranging trips to St Barth for people who wanted to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Le Select, a very fun bar located in the heart of Gustavia, St Barth’s beautiful harbor area.

By popular demand many of our clients have asked us to make the same weekend in November an annual event. We don’t need Jimmy Buffet to have a good time, do we? (Jimmy if you are reading this, we don’t mind if you join us! If not at Le Select, the Baz Bar is right next to my office).

One year ago today, the euro/dollar exchange rate was $1.49; today’s rate is $1.30. Just think how many more Caribs and Cheeseburgers in Paradise that will buy!

Would you care you join the celebration and go back to St Barth in November?

We are planning a BIG party at a new venue on the harbor! We think a Jimmy Buffett theme would befit the occasion. And of course we will arrange a time to for all of us to meet at Le Select where we can enjoy a Cheeseburger in Paradise and a few libations. Yet another evening spent at the Baz Bar by my office sounds cool too!

The event is planned for the first weekend in November 2010, so please send an email to and one of our St. Barth Specialists will be in touch regarding your wish list for what type of villa or hotel accommodation you wish to reserve.

Don’t forget to tell your friends!

Villa Everest

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

People often ask me where I stay when I am in St Barth and if I own a villa there. The answers are:

1. My staff and I try to stay in as many different places as possible when we are on our inspection trips. It helps us to get to know our villas and hotels more intimately and pass on that information to our valued clientele when we are assisting with the selection process of where to stay.

2. I used to own a villa in St Barth but I sold it because I felt it might imply that I had a conflict of interest when suggesting a villa to one of my clients and it just so happened to be owned by me (even though it was the perfect match). So I sold my villa and built one on Virgin Gorda where no conflict exists.

When my husband Steve and I are living on St Barth we rent a villa for longer periods of time so that we don’t have to live out of a suitcase.

This year, we will be spending some time at Villa Everest in Vitet. The villa is so named because it is located on one of the highest peaks in St. Barth. The view is outstanding! It is so private and quiet up there.

Many upgrades and a few changes have been made:

• We bought a flat screen LED TV for the living room so that we (and you) can keep in touch and watch the news and sporting events on the satellite TV and we had new slipcovers made for the comfy couches

• We had a dishwasher installed in the kitchen because we do not eat out every night when we are there for extended periods of time. Although we dine out at least 4-5 times a week, we do enjoy eating in once in a while. It is very relaxing to dine poolside while gazing out at the stars and the twinkling lights of St Maarten in the distance.

• “Rain” Showerheads have been installed in the bathrooms
• There is AC in the living room
• We bought an iPod docking station
• We purchased a Nespresso machine

Other changes repeat clients will notice include the fact that that Villa Everest has a wonderful new maid Ida (pronounced eeda, the French way). Ida will keep your villa very tidy and she is SO nice. Another improvement is that I purchased some wonderful Ligne St Barth toiletries so that on that first evening, after a day of traveling, guests can take a nice relaxing shower under those great new showerheads while using superb island-made products.

What has NOT changed? The good things…

The owner who was a gardener by trade is still keeping the flowers blooming and tending to the shrubs and palm trees. He also cleans the pool and respects your privacy.

And…of course those beautiful sunsets!

I hope many of you will be able to stay at Villa Everest. It is very popular, so try to book early in order to avoid disappointment.

What’ll They Think of Next?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Our villa inspection tour included a visit to the beautiful luxurious four bedroom Villa Anges which is located in Vitet. We walked in the door and, “Wow” ! Although this was my 4th visit, it was Julie’s first and she fell in love. Look at the “balloons” on the ceiling; they are colorful living room lights and a true conversation piece.

The gorgeous multi-colored artwork depicting the map of St Barth on the wall? It’s stunning but it also proves to be esthetically practical because, “Voilà”—just press a button and a wall-mounted giant TV appears. What’ll they think of next?

The outdoor living space which overlooks the heated infinity pool and the pretty view is flanked by two identical (king) en suite bedrooms on either side of it. Oh yes, by taking advantage of the main pool’s overflow, the architect designed a wonderful kiddy pool.

It never ceases to amaze me how the various creative architects can come up with such innovative ideas and that all of these bells and whistles can be imported to our tiny 8 square mile island. What’ll they think of next?
