The Real Housewives of New York City at Villa Oasis de Salines in St. Barts – Have you tried Ramona Singer’s Pinot Grigio? Who was that sexy looking chef?

Wednesday, September 19th, 2012

The Real Housewives of New York City may have left St. Barts and our gorgeous Villa Oasis de Salines, but St Barth remains in the minds the show’s viewers. Three episodes of RHONY in St. Barts got the phones ringing and we are certainly receiving lots of positive feedback about our gorgeous island; so many people are grateful to have found St. Barth Properties and are booking villa and hotel stays through my company. Would you like to experience the magic of St. Barth? Please contact

What a coincidence! I was able to meet Ramona Singer on Cape Cod this summer. Do you know that Ramona has her own line of Pinot Grigio? Yes, she is a business woman and was promoting her wine at a liquor store about one mile from my house on Cape Cod (where I spend my time when I am not in St. Barts). Authors sign their books, right? Well, Ramona was signing her bottles of wine so I hopped in my car, went to Luke’s and got in line (a long one). When I finally reached the front, I was able to chat with Ramona and bought 6 bottles of her signed 2011 Delle Venezie Pinot Grigio. To me, in real life Ramona is a nice lady and the wine “with crisp acidity and balanced fruit” is quite good.

Some of you have asked us to tell you more about that sexy looking private chef who was cooking for the Housewives (and you saw Sonja trying to put the moves on him, too). Chef Jean Baptiste Barre is the owner of Le Bistroy wine bar in the St. Jean area. He owns Absolutely Wine and has a very impressive wine cellar where you can attend his wine school and also experience some wine tasting. Enjoy the Charcuterie with pairings of wine. You can also purchase delicacies to enhance your meals at home. Can you hire him to cook for you one evening during your stay? Bien sûr, our concierge will be pleased to arrange for a sumptuous candlelight dinner prepared and served in your private villa and be sure to try Le Bistroy while you are there.

The Real Housewives of New York City (RHONY) In St. Barts Part Two

Tuesday, September 4th, 2012

Did you catch the Real Housewives of New York City (RHONY) in St Barts second episode (#14) on Bravo at 9:00 p.m last night? A repeat of Episode 13 aired right before it.

Well, those Housewives sure do like to bicker! (Can’t they just enjoy their time on beautiful St. Barth the way the rest of us do?) And Aviva!! Good grief – the flight from St. Maarten to St. Barts is not the way she made it seem. And by the way, Aviva why didn’t you just take the ferry?

If you saw last week’s episode I was on the show greeting the RHONY (sans Aviva) at the magnificent Villa Oasis de Salines.

Isn’t it gorgeous? It is pricey at $100,000 per week in high season (January 7 to April 15) but worth it. In Value Season (April 16-December 15) it is $70,000 and if 6 couples split the cost, it makes it more reasonable. If you want to rent if during the Christmas-New Year’s period, prepare to bite the bullet as there is a 2 week minimum and it’s $140,000 per week. (It is already booked for Christmas 2012 but we have other fabulous villas that are still open.) Contact:

Back to last night…

I was at my St. Barth Properties Sotheby’s International Realty on-island office when Sonja and Ramona walked in. They were upset with the other Real Housewives because the “girl’s weekend” had become a dating event with boyfriends and husbands involved so they asked me for a “back-up” villa for them just in case they wanted to move there that very night! I was surprised but I checked availability and fortunately the fabulous Villa Au Soleil was available and I knew they would love it. It is so private and the view is incredible. (I also mentioned to them that Steve Martin owns it which of course impressed them). I enjoyed talking to them.

One more thing, did you see the RHONY walking into Bagatelle restaurant? We were there by coincidence with a bunch of dentists who were taking a continuing education course with the SBDA (St. Barth Dental Association) and having dinner. If you freeze the episode at :56 you can see my dentist son, Mark Smyth at the end of our table – small world.

I hope you are enjoying the scenery and those amazing shots of Villa Oasis de Salines.

RHONY Does St. Barts! Does the Acronym RHONY mean anything to you?

Wednesday, August 15th, 2012

Do you know what RHONY means? If you don’t, I was in the same boat. I have since been enlightened. It’s an acronym for the Real Housewives Of New York! There’s a show on Bravo TV called The Real Housewives of New York City. Fans refer to it as RHONY.

A December 15, 2011 telephone phone call to my St. Barth Properties US office and St. Barth Specialist Julie Nally requesting a fabulous 6 bedroom villa for The Real Housewives of New York City prompted me to do some quick research because they were planning on going to St Barts in only 5 short weeks.

A whole new world (aka Reality TV) broadened my horizons and piqued my curiosity even further. I learned the basics: Six real housewives (not actresses) are featured in the series. Three had been fired after season 4 and three new ones plus the three regulars would be on Season 5. I found social media outlets quoting lots of fans who were speculating as to whether or not they liked Bravo’s changes. Several of them bickered back and forth about it, “I hate this one”; “They never should have fired that one” etc. (Bickering among the Housewives is basically what happens on every episode, too).

We found a gorgeous 6 bedroom luxurious villa where the ladies would stay, provided our concierge services from both our US and SBH offices and arranged for a private chef, a massage therapist, make-up artist, hairdresser, butler and of course stocked the wine cellar and liquor cabinet – all the while keeping the entire event strictly confidential…No leaks allowed. We are accustomed to keeping secrets because we often have celebrities staying in our properties and, out of our respect for everyone, SBP would never reveal who they are, so it was no big deal.

Off to St. Barts they went. We met The Housewives at the airport as is customary and escorted them to the extraordinary Villa Oasis de Salines where I was waiting to greet them. Yes! I will be on the show! I met all of the lovely ladies, showed them around the entire villa as they oohed and aahed and eventually each one chose their individual bedrooms. Magdalena Votava the Concierge at our St Barth office was with me so she could assist them with other requests. They loved the villa and of course, St. Barts! (Who wouldn’t?)

I kept bumping into The Housewives in various places, which is the norm for anyone who is out and about on this tiny 8 square mile island. In fact, by coincidence the St. Barth Dental Association meeting was taking place that same week. Both my husband Steve and my son, Mark Smyth (a dentist too) were taking the course. One evening The RHONY Housewives walked into the same restaurant where the dentists and their wives were dining. – Small world. The dentists were dazzled and some even got up to dance with them (I don’t know if that scene will be on the show or it ended up on the cutting room floor).

I started watching Season 5 on Mondays at 9:00 pm with hubby Steve and even he is amused by it. The RHONY series began June 04. Be sure to watch the show (and/or DVR it) on Bravo TV at 9:00 pm August 27, September 3 and September 10, 2012. I have no clue as to what they will be showing but I think you will love seeing all of the scenes as well as the scenery. Please let me know your thoughts about what you saw. It is all in fun and I hope you enjoy it even if you do not dare admit to your friends that you watched it. Who knows they might be RHONY fans too!
