I just got back from Turkey – what a wonderful trip! There was so much to see. To be able to witness so much of history was incredible. One of the highlights of our trip was a visit to Kaymakli Underground City in Cappadocia: Beginning in the second century AD, as successive armies swept across Asia Minor, the residents of Cappadocia created uniquely defensible communities by digging approximately eight stories down into the volcanic tufa stone. Steve and I crawled through these caves and were dazzled by how well they built them.
