Bonjour from sunny (but chilly) Las Vegas!
Yes I had to leave beautiful St. Barth in order to attend the Condé Nast Traveler Las Vegas Summit at the brand new Cosmopolitan Hotel (fabulous) where I received my Villa Rental Specialist Award (I am thrilled to be designated as “the best for St. Barth”). The magazine began bestowing the award in 2006 and I have been very fortunate to have won this prestigious designation each year since its inception.
The “Las Vegas Summit” was very informative and very productive. Travel and villa Specialists from all over the world attended and we learned a lot from each other and from the editors of Condé Nast Traveler magazine. The good news is that people are traveling again. We have really noticed the trend in St. Barth. Our phones are ringing a lot and I am sure the cold, snowy weather contributes to people’s desire to get away to our beautiful, warm and sunny island.
The Cosmopolitan only opened 3 weeks ago and it is very classy. Each room has a private balcony – a first for Las Vegas and one gets the sense of being in an apartment in a large city. The dining venues are wonderful and plentiful. Every chef that was brought to the hotel came from outside of Las Vegas. The hotel offers free Internet/Wifi access—how refreshing!
By the way, I also won an unofficial award from a TSA agent: “Most liquids ever seen stuffed into a 1 quart bag”… Hey, what’s a woman to do when she has to travel with only a carry-on?
The morning of my departure I visited a gorgeous new three bedroom villa that is located in Grand Fond. The unique swimming pool at villa La Roche dans l’eau is the focal point. It simulates a beach-like feel as you wade into the water. There is a rock in the pool too! Have a look. Guests will love the peacefulness of the area and it is a great spot to jog.
I will be back in St. Barth later today. I already have appointments to inspect a renovated villa and a brand new villa on Saturday. Stay tuned….

Congrats Peg! On both the Conde Nast honor – and your quart bag filling skill.
Thanks Connie! (Belatedly)
