I went to Cannes to attend the International Luxury Travel Mart (ILTM) last week. Travel agents from all over the world attend this annual event where they come to learn about hotels, destinations and meet with people like me. Of course, St. Barth is my passion, so it was easy for me to talk out the island, our villas and the hotels that we represent. Pascale Minarro, the Directrice at my St. Barth Office met me there and the show was a huge success. In the evening we enjoyed dining at a few of Cannes’ great restaurants (FYI: My husband Steve came with me…did you know that he loves to carry my bags around airports?)
The first evening we went to Salon des Indépendents. The young couple who are the owners prepare one set menu each day. That evening it was Pot au Feu and it was so delicious and so reasonably priced that we were shocked when the got the bill. As we were finishing up a gentleman came into the restaurant with a harp. He started playing and the couple started singing along with him. It turns out that they have music every evening and we had a delightful evening despite the jet lag.
I was told that Cannes means dining on oysters, so another evening we went to Chez Astoux. Once again we had a great time and enjoyed the food.
I came back to the US to unpack and then I repacked for my trip to St. Barth tomorrow. It wasn’t easy because I will be based there until May, so I need to bring lots of stuff. I am looking forward to my stay and will be blogging from there so as keep you up-to-date.
